This appointment follows a recent organizational change where the title 'Military Aide' was updated to 'Defense Aide', permitting general high-ranking civil servants to hold the position.
The ministry stated this move aims to strengthen democratic control and foster balanced development among the military branches. Kim, who entered public service in 2005, has held various roles including Head of the Operations Support Division and Protocol Officer.
