Delcy Rodríguez Implements 28 Changes in Venezuela's Armed Forces Leadership
Interim President Delcy Rodríguez has enacted a significant restructuring of Venezuela's National Armed Forces, implementing 28 leadership changes across various military branches, including the Bolivarian National Guard and several Strategic Defense Regions. Endorsed by Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino López, these adjustments follow a recent Constitutional Chamber decision and include key appointments such as M/G Pablo Ernesto Lizano Colmenter at REDI Los Andes. Additionally, a merger of ministries was announced, resulting in the removal of Alex Saab from the cabinet.

Interim President Delcy Rodríguez initiated a major overhaul of Venezuela's National Armed Forces, implementing 28 changes affecting the Expanded Military High Command. Changes included leadership shifts in two Strategic Defense Regions, 12 Operational Defense Zones, six positions in the Bolivarian National Guard, three brigades, and three military academies.
Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino López endorsed these changes, which followed a Constitutional Chamber decision on January 3, 2026. Key changes included M/G Pablo Ernesto Lizano Colmenter replacing M/G José Gregorio Martínez Campos in REDI Los Andes and G/B Fidel Humberto Olivo Pacheco Ramírez taking over at La Carlota Air Base. Six significant adjustments were made within the National Guard, and a merger of ministries was announced, removing Alex Saab from the cabinet.
