The Delta State Government has launched a $100 million Viability Gap Fund to de-risk investments, announced during the Economic and Investment Summit 2026. Vice President Kashim Shettima emphasized Delta's strategic assets, including natural gas reserves and a robust coastline, positioning it as a key industrial hub.
The summit aims to foster actionable partnerships and accelerate economic development following investment missions to China and Brazil in 2025. Governor Sheriff Oborevwori noted the state's economy is valued at approximately N17 trillion and highlighted tax incentives and infrastructure improvements to attract investors.
The government's commitment to diversifying beyond oil is critical, as emphasized by Shettima and WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, who advocated for strategic investments in sectors like agriculture and the blue economy. Collaboration with Anambra State was also encouraged to enhance regional economic growth.
