The DENR is executing a ₱485 million roadmap to enhance water access in water-stressed provinces in the Philippines, including Bohol, Palawan, Cebu, and Masbate. The 2026 plan focuses on installing desalination and filtration systems to lower water costs from ₱50-₱70 to ₱20-₱25 per container.
Financial assistance will support 13 water districts, and 25 sites will receive water refilling equipment, priced at ₱16 per container. The department will complete eight infiltration gallery projects by December 2026 and conduct georesistivity surveys in 28 priority sites to identify groundwater resources. A National Water Information and Monitoring System will be launched to track water usage nationwide, with an emphasis on women's participation in water management.
