The Department of Social Development intervened to assist an elderly woman and her two grandchildren in Acornhoek, Mpumalanga, after their home collapsed due to heavy rains. To provide immediate relief, he secured an eight-sleeper army tent, equipped with essentials, funded by the Chinese Embassy. Additional support includes five more tents sourced by other donors, with a goal of reaching 100 tents for families affected by the floods. The tent was placed on land previously used for gardening, and efforts are ongoing to find an alternative space for food cultivation.
