Destinus Unveils Ruta Block 2 Cruise Missile with 450 km Range and AI Guidance
Destinus has introduced the Ruta Block 2 cruise missile, featuring a range exceeding 450 kilometers, a heavy warhead, and advanced AI-powered guidance, specifically designed for combat against Russian forces. This new missile marks a significant advancement over the original Ruta design, incorporating a multifunctional guidance system capable of penetrating layered air defenses amid electronic interference.
The warhead weighs over 250 kilograms, and the missile includes a thermal imaging homing head for enhanced accuracy. Destinus, headquartered in the Netherlands, is collaborating with European firms for various systems, including a Spanish GPS-independent navigation system and Hivemind AI from Shield AI.
The missile's operational readiness date has not been disclosed, but there are plans for its deployment with the Ukrainian Defense Forces, which have already utilized the earlier Ruta missiles in combat. The Ruta Block 2 is also designed for diverse missions, including intelligence and rapid-response operations.
