Dhruva Space Welcomes Former ISRO Chairman S Somanath as Advisor Amid Strategic Developments
Dhruva Space has appointed S Somanath as a Distinguished Advisor, enhancing its capabilities in satellite technology. The startup aims for mass production of satellites and has signed a contract for satellite thrusters as it prepares for future missions.

Dhruva Space has appointed S Somanath, former ISRO Chairman, as a Distinguished Advisor, leveraging his expertise in systems engineering and space policy. The Hyderabad-based company, which focuses on small satellite systems, aims to scale its manufacturing for satellites up to 500 KG, serving civil, defense, and international commercial clients.
In January 2024, Dhruva successfully launched the LEAP-TD mission on ISRO's PSLV-C58 flight. Concurrently, Eutelsat is exploring launch partnerships with ISRO to reduce reliance on SpaceX. The Indian government seeks to expand its space sector to $44 billion by 2033, shifting more responsibilities to private players like Dhruva Space.
