Diehl Defence Initiates Production of 122 mm Training Rockets in Germany
Diehl Defence, in collaboration with Elbit Systems Land, has successfully launched a new 122 mm training rocket from the MARS 3 system, marking a significant advancement in artillery training capabilities. This initiative addresses the growing demand for effective training solutions within the German Armed Forces.

Diehl Defence has commenced production of a 122 mm training rocket, successfully demonstrated with multiple firings from the MARS 3 rocket artillery launcher at Altengrabow military training area. This development, in partnership with Elbit Systems Land, enhances the training capabilities required by the German Armed Forces and integrates existing components for market readiness.
The training rocket features a spotting charge warhead utilizing a novel propellant to ensure visibility upon impact without fire hazards. Preliminary tests in Israel in 2025, followed by pre-firings in February 2026, confirmed the rocket's aerodynamic design. This marks the first firing of a German training rocket in over 30 years and signals the revival of artillery rocket production at Diehl Defence.
