On June 8, Army Lt. Col. Juan G.
Martinez succeeded Army Lt. Col. Eunseok 'Sam' Yoo as commander of DLA Energy Middle East during a ceremony in Kaiserslautern, Germany.
Yoo's leadership included managing a $3.42 billion portfolio with a 52-person team, delivering over 222.8 million gallons of fuel across 14 countries despite over 400 missile threat warnings. His tenure saw the establishment of the first operational refueling capability in the Red Sea and a $2.1 million contract for the U.S.
Embassy in Uzbekistan. Martinez, with extensive experience in expeditionary logistics, is tasked with continuing the mission in a challenging environment.
