DLA Weapons Support Launches Rapid Sustainment Initiative to Enhance Military Sustainment Planning
The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Weapons Support has initiated the Rapid Sustainment Initiative (RSI) to address gaps in military weapon system sustainment. By engaging earlier in the acquisition lifecycle, DLA aims to ensure parts availability from the onset of new system deployment, reducing delays and improving readiness.

The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Weapons Support has launched the Rapid Sustainment Initiative (RSI) to enhance sustainment planning for military weapon systems. This initiative shifts DLA's involvement from Milestone C to Milestone B, allowing proactive establishment of sustainment pipelines.
By facilitating quick additions of parts without extensive contract modifications, RSI aims to improve efficiency and speed in provisioning. Collaborating with TACOM and the Army Contracting Command, this initiative enhances parts prioritization and mitigates quality issues early in the process.
A new digital tool, the TACOM Stockout Tactical Readiness Inventory Knowledge Engine, is also being tested to improve decision-making and data sharing, addressing sustainment challenges across the industrial base. This comprehensive approach is expected to significantly enhance operational readiness for military forces.
