DMS Opens New Pump Test Loop at Chesapeake Facility to Support Shipbuilding
Defense Maritime Solutions (DMS) has launched a new pump test loop at its Chesapeake, Virginia facility to enhance shipbuilding support. The system enables full functional testing of pumps through a closed-loop water circuit, improving efficiency and reducing turnaround times for local shipyards. The inauguration event highlighted DMS's commitment to innovation in maritime defense and strengthening the regional supply chain.

Defense Maritime Solutions (DMS) inaugurated a pump test loop at its Chesapeake, Virginia headquarters, enhancing support for shipbuilding. The ceremony included regional and federal stakeholders such as Rep.
Jen Kiggans, NASSCO, and the Military Sealift Command. The pump test loop allows for full functional testing of pumps using a closed-loop water circuit, verifying flow rates and minimizing vibration and heat.
This capability accelerates the delivery of approved pumps to local shipyards, improving turnaround times and strengthening the maritime supply chain. The system features two independent testing sections for large and small capacity pumps, increasing efficiency by allowing simultaneous testing. The event underscored DMS's commitment to innovation in maritime defense and support services in Hampton Roads.
