DOE, SoftBank, AEP Ohio to Build 10 GW Power Generation for AI Data Centers in Pike County, Ohio
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), SoftBank Group, and AEP Ohio are partnering to build 10 GW of power generation in Pike County, Ohio. This includes 9.2 GW from natural gas to support a new 10 GW data center at the Portsmouth Site. The project, backed by $33.3 billion in Japanese funding, aims to modernize energy infrastructure and drive AI technology development. Construction is expected to start in 2026, with power anticipated by 2029.
