Donald Kurz's Legacy of Service in Port Washington
Donald Kurz, a prominent figure in Port Washington, led Kurz Oil and dedicated over four decades to community service, including roles in the Flower Hill Hose Company and the Port Washington Water Pollution Control District. Known for his commitment to local youth sports and blood drives, he was honored with the Melvin Jones Fellowship by the Lions Club. Donald Kurz, born July 20, 1951, led Kurz Oil after serving in the Army Air National Guard from 1970 to 1976. He expanded the business by acquiring Manhasset Bay Plumbing in the 1990s. Kurz joined the Flower Hill Hose Company in 1972, becoming captain by 1979.
He coordinated a blood drive for over 25 years and served as commissioner of the Port Washington Water Pollution Control District for 38 years. Kurz was recognized by the Lions Club with the Melvin Jones Fellowship.
He was known for his community presence and dedication to local youth sports. Donations are requested to be made to the Port Washington Police Athletic League, Port Washington Youth Activities, or the Flower Hill Hose Company.
