DoW Confirms Death of Sgt. Benjamin N. Pennington in Iranian Attack on Saudi Arabia
The Department of War announced the death of Sgt. Benjamin N. Pennington, 26, from Glendale, Kentucky, who died from wounds sustained during an Iranian attack on U.S. troops at Prince Sultan Air Base, Saudi Arabia, on March 1. Assigned to the 1st Space Brigade at Fort Carson, Colorado, Pennington was a dedicated soldier whose incident is under investigation. He will be posthumously promoted to staff sergeant and received multiple military awards during his service.

Sgt. Benjamin N. Pennington, 26, of Glendale, Kentucky, died on March 8 from injuries sustained during an Iranian attack on U.S. troops at Prince Sultan Air Base, Saudi Arabia, on March 1.
He was assigned to the 1st Space Brigade, Fort Carson, Colorado. The incident is under investigation. Pennington enlisted in the Army in 2017 as a unit supply specialist and was assigned to the 1st Space Battalion in June 2025. He will be posthumously promoted to staff sergeant and received numerous awards, including three Army Commendation Medals and two Army Good Conduct Medals.
