Downing Acquires 42.5MW Solar Plant in Cornwall with 2027 Connection Date
Investment manager Downing has purchased a 42.5MW ready-to-build solar power plant in Cornwall, set for grid connection in Q4 2027. The Higher Witheven solar plant will connect to the 400kV Alverdiscott substation and has a Contract for Difference from Allocation Round 7. This acquisition is part of a joint venture with Tokyo Century Corporation to develop utility-scale solar projects with secured grid connections.

This purchase marks Downing's fifth acquisition in three months, aligning with its joint venture with Tokyo Century Corporation aimed at developing ready-to-build solar projects with confirmed grid connection dates. Recent acquisitions include projects from BOOM Power and Vattenfall, contingent on secured grid connection offers.
