Dr. Adi Paterson Receives Australia Day Honour for Contributions to Nuclear Technology
Dr. Adrian Paterson has been appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for his significant contributions to nuclear technology, particularly during his tenure as CEO of ANSTO from 2009 to 2020. He played a pivotal role in the commissioning of the OPAL reactor, expanded the workforce, and initiated the production of nuclear medicines for hospitals across Australia. Currently involved with HB11 Energy and the Nuclear for Australia movement, Dr. Paterson advocates for the adoption of nuclear energy, reflecting broad public support for peaceful nuclear technology.

Dr. Adrian Paterson, former CEO of ANSTO from 2009 to 2020, has been appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to science. He oversaw the OPAL reactor's commissioning and expansion of ANSTO's workforce from 830 to 1340 employees.
Under his leadership, ANSTO began producing nuclear medicines for 230 hospitals in Australia and connected with the Australian Synchrotron in Melbourne. He also established a program for Aboriginal children to learn about nuclear science.
Dr. Paterson advocates for the adoption of nuclear energy in Australia, citing support from 80% of Australians for peaceful nuclear technology. He currently works with HB11 Energy on fusion energy technology and chairs the Nuclear for Australia movement.
