DRDO Successfully Tests Third-Generation MPATGM Missile in Maharashtra
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully tested the third-generation Man Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile (MPATGM) in Maharashtra on January 11, 2026. The missile showcased its top-attack capability against a moving target and features advanced technologies such as an Imaging Infrared homing seeker and a tandem warhead. Developed in collaboration with Bharat Dynamics Limited and Bharat Electronics Limited, the MPATGM program aims to bolster India's defense manufacturing self-reliance.

On January 11, 2026, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) conducted a successful flight test of the Man Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile (MPATGM) at KK Ranges, Ahilya Nagar, Maharashtra. The missile, designed for man-portable deployment, demonstrated its top-attack capability against a moving target using a thermal target system.
It features an Imaging Infrared (IIR) homing seeker, an all-electric control actuation system, and a tandem warhead capable of defeating modern tanks. Bharat Dynamics Limited and Bharat Electronics Limited are the development partners for the MPATGM programme, which aims to enhance India's self-reliance in defense manufacturing.
