Drone Manufacturers Establish Presence in Morocco for African Market Entry
Major drone manufacturers are setting up operations in Morocco, positioning the country as a manufacturing hub for UAVs in Africa. This trend is driven by increasing demand for security and surveillance solutions on the continent, particularly in response to asymmetric threats.

Morocco is emerging as a key manufacturing base for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) as companies like Delair and INKAS establish operations in the country. Delair Africa aims for a revenue target of €500-€1,000 million by 2030, leveraging prior drone deliveries to several African nations.
INKAS is also planning to set up a factory for drones and armored vehicles, building on a partnership formed in 2023. Additionally, Israeli company BlueBird Aero Systems is facilitating technology transfer for local drone production.
Despite local initiatives, reliance on foreign UAVs persists due to their proven reliability. Challenges include potential corruption and the need for local products to demonstrate operational viability. These developments reflect Morocco's strategic ambition to strengthen its defense capabilities while fostering a domestic drone industry.
