Drury Family Donates 14 Acres to Protect Little Beef Creek Estuary
The Drury family has donated 14 acres of land to the Great Peninsula Conservancy, enhancing habitat conservation for endangered salmon species. This donation fulfills a long-held commitment to protect the Little Beef Creek estuary near Seabeck, Washington.

The Drury family has donated 14 acres of the Little Beef Creek estuary to the Great Peninsula Conservancy (GPC), ensuring permanent habitat for Hood Canal summer chum salmon. This donation, honoring Gretchen Elizabeth Drury, complements GPC's recent acquisition of an adjacent 1.85-acre property, promoting conservation efforts in the area.
The estuary, which includes significant tidelands, lies less than 2,000 feet from the Big Beef estuary, vital for salmon recovery. An innovative partnership with the U.S. Navy's REPI program has also facilitated conservation easements on both properties, securing funding and prohibiting future development. This initiative enhances existing conservation efforts in the region and underscores the importance of family legacies in environmental stewardship.
