Dunkerque LNG Becomes Europe's Second Largest Methane Terminal After Rotterdam
Dunkerque LNG has become Europe's second largest methane terminal, following Rotterdam, since its operational launch in 2017. Located in Loon-Plage, the facility can accommodate the largest methane carriers and features three massive storage tanks with a combined capacity of 600,000 cubic meters, designed for structural integrity with 80 cm thick concrete walls. Managed by Fluxys, the terminal includes extensive piping systems spanning thousands of kilometers.

Dunkerque LNG, operational since 2017, is the second largest methane terminal in continental Europe, following Rotterdam. Located in Loon-Plage near Dunkerque, the terminal can accommodate the world's largest methane carriers on a site exceeding 50 hectares.
Managed by Fluxys, the terminal features extensive piping systems, estimated in thousands of kilometers. At the center of the site are three massive storage tanks, 50 meters high, capable of holding a total of 600,000 cubic meters of LNG at -162°C. The tanks are designed with an 80 cm thick concrete wall, allowing for substantial structural integrity.
