EAAIF Invests €40 Million in Cabo Verde Airports for Expansion and Modernization
The Emerging Africa & Asia Infrastructure Fund (EAAIF) has committed €40 million in sustainability-linked financing to Cabo Verde Airports for the second phase of a program to modernize and expand seven airports. This financing supports Phase 1B of a 40-year concession awarded in 2023, funding runway extensions, terminal expansions, and environmental improvements.
The program aims to accommodate passenger traffic growth and enhance service quality. Sustainability measures include solar energy, energy-efficient upgrades, and commitments to reduce airport emissions by 30% by 2030.
The investment supports tourism and trade, key to the islands' economic activity. Vinci Airports will also increase female managerial representation to 40% by 2026 and ensure accessibility standards.
