Eckstein Trade & Transport Takes Delivery of New Tug, mv. Tarps
Eckstein Trade & Transport has received its first tugboat, the mv. Tarps, built by Diversified Marine Michigan. This acquisition supports ET&T's goal to expand its marine services and engage in U.S. Army Corps of Engineers projects.

Eckstein Trade & Transport (ET&T) has taken delivery of the mv. Tarps, marking its entry into tugboat operations. The vessel, designed for truckable tug applications, features two Cummins engines, rated at 305 horsepower, and dimensions of approximately 26 by 14 by 5 feet.
ET&T aims to grow its operations to bid on larger projects, specifically targeting direct contracts with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Currently engaged in subcontracting for Corps jobs, ET&T's recent project involved moving 100,000 tons of rip rap for the Houston Ship Channel restoration.
The mv. Tarps is initially chartered on Lake Michigan before transferring to an 18-month charter in Texas. This expansion reflects ET&T's strategic focus on reinvesting in capabilities and pursuing long-term contracts.
