Eco Park Project Near Rapti River Set for Inauguration on April 23
A former garbage dump near the Rapti River is being transformed into an eco park and city forest, with a total investment of Rs 41.5 crore. The Chief Minister's inauguration on April 23 will also launch a Swachh School campaign to enhance hygiene awareness.

The Gorakhpur Municipal Corporation has rehabilitated a 40-acre site near the Rapti River, converting a long-standing garbage dump into an eco park, which includes walking tracks, yoga areas, and a children's play zone. The initiative involved the clearance of approximately 2.26 lakh metric tonnes of waste, addressing significant environmental hazards such as methane emissions and air pollution.
A new four-lane road, totaling 2.9 km, has been constructed to enhance connectivity to Baghagara, with a project budget of Rs 41.5 crore allocated for waste processing, park development, and road construction. The launch of the Swachh School campaign aims to foster hygiene and civic responsibility among students, indicating a broader commitment to community health.
