Ecolant to Build Russia's First Large-Scale DRI-EAF Steel Plant by Q4 2026
Ecolant plans to launch a DRI-EAF steel plant in Vyksa, with operations starting in Q4 2026. This facility will enhance domestic resource consumption and significantly reduce emissions compared to traditional methods.

Ecolant's green steel plant in Vyksa is set to begin operations in Q4 2026, with an annual capacity of 1.8 million mt of steel. The project leverages DRI technology combined with electric arc furnace steelmaking, aiming for emissions that are nearly three times lower than conventional methods.
The facility will consume approximately 1 billion cubic meters of natural gas and 3.5 million mt of iron ore pellets annually. Ecolant’s total investment is RUB 190 billion ($2.49 billion), expected to generate RUB 6.4 billion in tax revenues and create over 1,000 jobs. The project underscores a shift towards reduced environmental impact and increased domestic production capabilities.
