EDB Forecasts Kyrgyzstan's Economic Growth to Lead Central Asia at 9.3% in 2026

The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) predicts Kyrgyzstan will achieve the highest economic growth rate in Central Asia, projected at 9.3% for 2026. This marks the third consecutive year of Kyrgyzstan leading the region in growth, following a 9% increase in prior years and an expected acceleration to over 10% in 2025.

Key growth drivers include strong investment activity and resilient consumer demand. The EDB anticipates continued leadership through 2027, with investments focused on transport, energy, and water supply.

Kyrgyzstan aims for energy independence by 2028, constructing around 100 new hydropower plants and developing solar and wind energy. Inflation is forecasted at 8.3% by the end of 2026, influenced by global food market conditions. To manage inflation, authorities have introduced temporary product regulations and expect the key policy rate to remain around 11%.
