Edi Rama and U.S. Ambassador Discuss LNG Terminal Agreement in Albania
A strategic agreement for a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) in Albania is set for signature, enhancing regional energy security. This initiative is pivotal for gas supply diversification in the Balkans and the European energy network.

An agreement for the construction of a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) for liquefied natural gas (LNG) in Albania is expected to be signed, involving the Ministry of Infrastructure and a U.S. company. This project is critical for improving gas supply capacities and strengthening the Balkans' role in the European energy network.
The FSRU serves to import and process LNG, stored at very low temperatures before being converted back to gas for distribution through pipelines. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance bilateral cooperation in the energy sector between Albania and the U.S. Potential impacts include increased energy security for the region and reduced reliance on single suppliers.
