Edison Spa, alongside EDF and Nuward, has signed a memorandum of understanding to develop a third-generation nuclear plant using Small Modular Reactor technology. The collaboration, which includes multiple prominent operators from the Italian and French nuclear sectors, targets the deployment of the technology in the 2030s with the first plants expected to be operational by 2035.
This initiative seeks to create a robust European nuclear ecosystem, reinforcing energy independence and fostering the adoption of low-carbon technologies alongside renewable energy sources. This project could significantly impact European industrial competitiveness and energy sustainability.
