Eelume and Maritime Robotics Develop Autonomous Mine Countermeasures Solution with WP960 USV

DEFENSE

Eelume and Maritime Robotics are developing the Eelume WP960, an unmanned surface vessel (USV) designed for mine countermeasures that aligns with the Norwegian Armed Forces' standards. The USV can operate autonomously or with a crew and serves as a carrier for Eelume S All-Terrain autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs).

This project integrates technologies from multiple Norwegian suppliers, including Blueye Robotics for AI-based mine detection. The WP960 is built using the WP960WB hull and supports rapid deployment of AUVs, offering a flexible platform for various defense and civilian operations, including mine clearance and underwater inspections.

The collaboration aims to enhance operational effectiveness while minimizing development costs and time. The vessel is already scheduled for its first missions and was recently showcased during the Dark Drones event.
