Egypt's 'Haya Karima' Initiative Achieves 89% Completion with EGP 350 Billion Investment in Rural Development

As of June 2025, Phase One of Egypt's 'Haya Karima' initiative has seen an 89% implementation rate, with EGP 306 billion disbursed out of a total EGP 350 billion allocated. The initiative targets 1,477 villages across 20 governorates, benefiting nearly 18 million citizens.

Key achievements include a 128% improvement in sanitation coverage, a 421% increase in natural gas subscribers, and a 55% rise in telecommunications subscribers. Infrastructure improvements include the completion of 349 drinking water plants and 1.4 million sanitation connections, achieving 100% access to safe drinking water and increasing sanitation service coverage from 20% to 90%.

Additionally, 796 health units and 15,300 classrooms were established, and financial inclusion improved by 19.4 percentage points. The initiative also launched the 'Green Village' project to qualify villages for environmental standards and activated the 'Sharek 2030' app for project monitoring.
