EIB and Gap Fund Collaborate to Enhance Waste Management in Chefchaouen, Morocco
The European Investment Bank and the City Climate Finance Gap Fund are collaborating to optimize waste management in Chefchaouen, Morocco. This initiative aims to assess and enhance waste management services, contributing to local environmental goals and improving residents' quality of life.

The European Investment Bank (EIB) and the City Climate Finance Gap Fund will assist Chefchaouen in improving the management of organic waste. This initiative includes a pre-feasibility study to evaluate household waste composition, with the goal of developing a viable concept to reduce landfill waste and enhance profitability.
The project aligns with Morocco's national climate objectives and is expected to serve as a model for other municipalities. Support from the EIB and Gap Fund will facilitate investments, capacity building, and source separation of waste, fostering a circular economy. This initiative also reinforces the Morocco-EU Green Partnership and contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
