EIB Grants €220 Million Loan to WEMAG for Electricity Grid Expansion in West Mecklenburg
The European Investment Bank (EIB) has approved a €220 million loan to WEMAG for the expansion of electricity grid infrastructure in West Mecklenburg, covering over one-third of the company's planned investments over the next four years. This funding aims to enhance grid capacity for renewable energy sources, supporting a total investment of €1.2 billion by WEMAG by 2033. The initiative aligns with Germany's efforts to transform the energy sector and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has signed an agreement with WEMAG to provide a €220 million loan for expanding electricity grid infrastructure in West Mecklenburg. This funding will cover over one-third of WEMAG's planned power grid investments over the next four years, ensuring a reliable supply of renewable electricity for households, businesses, and industries.
The investments will enhance the grid's capacity to accommodate renewable energy sources, including photovoltaics and electric vehicle charging stations. WEMAG plans to invest a total of €1.2 billion in grid infrastructure by 2033.
