EIB to Provide $87B for Clean Energy Financing Under New EU Strategy
The European Investment Bank (EIB) is set to roll out EUR 75 billion ($87 billion) over three years as part of the European Commission's Clean Energy Investment Strategy. This initiative aims to attract private investment by derisking clean energy projects and facilitating access to capital markets. The strategy outlines a need for EUR 660 billion annually from 2026 to 2030 and EUR 695 billion from 2021 to 2040 to meet energy transition goals. Key components include the establishment of the Strategic Infrastructure Investment Fund and the Operator Securitization Facility.

The European Investment Bank (EIB) will disburse EUR 75 billion ($87 billion) over the next three years under the European Commission's Clean Energy Investment Strategy. The strategy aims to leverage public financing to attract private investment, targeting an annual investment of EUR 660 billion from 2026 to 2030 and EUR 695 billion from 2021 to 2040 for the energy transition.
The EIB will establish the Strategic Infrastructure Investment Fund with EUR 500 million to support infrastructure projects, and the Operator Securitization Facility to convert future revenue into liquidity. The strategy also promotes investment in emerging clean technologies and financing for small modular reactors.
