Eight Arrested at L3Harris Facility Amid Protest Against Defense Industry
Eight protesters were arrested during a demonstration at L3Harris Space & Mission Systems in Northampton, charged with disorderly conduct. The protest, organized by Demilitarize Western Massachusetts, aimed to highlight opposition to the defense industry and its impact on global conflicts.

On a Wednesday morning, eight members of Demilitarize Western Massachusetts were arrested at the L3Harris Space & Mission Systems facility after blocking access with PVC piping. Charges included disorderly conduct, with two individuals additionally charged with resisting arrest and conspiracy.
The protesters aimed to draw attention to what they termed 'the war machine' and sought to honor anti-war activist Paki Wieland. Northampton Police intervened after repeated requests for the protesters to vacate the roadway went unheeded.
The State Police Special Emergency Response Team was called to assist in removing individuals who locked themselves to a boat trailer, leading to their arrest. Police emphasized the need to maintain traffic flow while respecting the right to protest.
