Elbit Systems Acquires OIP Sensor Systems in Belgium
Elbit Systems acquired OIP Sensor Systems from Delft Instruments on July 1, 2003. OIP has a history in military optics and electro-optical systems, contributing to defense projects in multiple countries.

OIP Sensor Systems, based in Belgium, was acquired by Elbit Systems on July 1, 2003. The company has roots dating back to the 1950s, originally producing military lenses, microscopes, and cameras. In the 1960s, OIP became a pioneer in the electro-optical sector, developing products like heads-up displays for the F-104 Starfighter and fire control systems for Leopard 1 tanks in collaboration with SABCA.
Currently, OIP operates two branches: OIP Land Systems and OIP Sensor Systems, which encompasses defense and space divisions. The company also manufactures holographic night vision goggles and engages in space-related projects. This acquisition enhances Elbit's capabilities in advanced defense technologies.
