Emerson Launches NI CHESS for RF Channel Emulation in Aerospace Testing
Emerson's NI CHESS platform facilitates RF channel emulation, shifting testing from field to lab environments. This innovation could reduce costs and improve performance validation for complex aerospace communication systems.

Emerson has launched the NI Channel Emulator System Software (CHESS), aimed at enhancing RF testing for aerospace communication systems. The platform, presented at the 2026 Space Symposium, allows for real-time emulation of dynamic radio environments, important for ground-to-orbit and airborne communication links.
By integrating model-based simulation with hardware-in-the-loop execution, it enables the injection of RF impairments such as Doppler shift and interference. This technology may help identify performance issues earlier, decreasing the reliance on expensive field tests and improving system validation. The multi-channel, wideband support of NI CHESS offers compatibility with advanced satellite and defense systems, potentially simplifying deployment and extending the lifespan of existing lab setups.
