Emesent and Teledyne FLIR Integrate Radiation Detection with GPS-Denied Mapping
Emesent's Hovermap and Teledyne FLIR's MUVE R430 create a system for real-time 3D radiation mapping in GPS-denied areas. This integration enhances CBRN teams' situational awareness without risking human operators.

Emesent and Teledyne FLIR Defense have partnered to integrate Hovermap's LiDAR technology with Teledyne FLIR's unmanned systems, producing 3D radiation maps in environments lacking GPS. This capability is deployed on the SkyRanger R70, R80D SkyRaider, and SUGV 325 platforms, allowing unmanned vehicles to navigate and map contaminated areas without human intervention.
The MUVE R430 radiation payload measures radiation levels, while Hovermap continuously updates positional data to create geo-referenced maps of radiation hotspots. As urban structures and underground facilities often block GPS signals, this technology addresses a critical operational gap for CBRN teams. Future developments may expand its application to detect chemical and biological threats in addition to radiation.
