Endurance Motive Proposes 20 GW Storage Goal by 2030 Amidst Renewable Energy Challenges
Endurance Motive suggests a revised plan for energy storage, aiming for 20 GW by 2030, responding to unmet renewable targets. The proposed storage capacity, alongside hybrid solar projects, is crucial for stabilizing energy prices and enhancing competitiveness in the energy market.

Ander Muelas, president of Endurance Motive, proposed achieving 20 GW of new storage capacity by 2030 to address declining electricity prices. This includes 11 GW hybrid with solar and 9 GW in standalone battery parks.
The current renewable energy targets set by the Spanish government are unlikely to be met due to slower-than-expected growth in electric vehicles and green hydrogen. The EU has approved €9 billion for Spain's capacity mechanism, which may enhance investor confidence in storage projects. Industry leaders emphasize the need for hybrid solutions to improve profitability for photovoltaic projects as reliance on direct sales declines.
