EnduroSat and Shield Space Partner for Cubesat Orbital Defense Mission
EnduroSat and Shield Space plan to launch an autonomous cubesat in 2027, paving the way for a versatile orbital defense mothership. This collaboration aims to expedite satellite operations for defense clients, shortening timelines from years to months.

EnduroSat and Shield Space's partnership aims to deploy an 8U autonomous cubesat, named Broadsword, in 2027 for proximity operations with a smaller 3U satellite. This initiative, leveraging EnduroSat's satellite platform and Shield Space's RPO software, will enable defense clients to move from contract to orbit in approximately nine months.
The development of a mothership, Project Nexus, is planned for 2028 and will host multiple cubesats for on-demand operations. The partnership targets improved visibility and accountability in space, focusing on the attribution of orbital activities. The companies also aim to enhance satellite protection and explore advanced capabilities to manage threats, potentially establishing a responsive alternative to rapid-launch systems.
