Enel Begins Construction of 82.5-MW Solar Plant in Free State, South Africa

Enel Green Power has commenced construction of the Pulida solar power plant in Free State Province, South Africa. The 82.5-megawatt project is projected to generate 150 gigawatt hours annually, sufficient to power approximately 48,000 households.

Power produced will be sold to Eskom under a 20-year power purchase agreement established in October 2013, as part of the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP). Enel has also secured rights to develop several other renewable projects in South Africa, including wind and solar facilities. The company reports a global installed capacity exceeding 9,800 MW from various renewable sources.
