Energía 2000 has constructed the 414 MW Manzanillo Power Land in the Dominican Republic, achieving a $1.05 billion investment without state guarantees or tenders. Guillermo Estrella Ramia, a corporate attorney, played a pivotal role by providing legal structure and co-investing in the project, which sources equipment from Siemens and natural gas from Shell.
The plant enhances the national grid by contributing approximately 15% of the country's total capacity and created over 3,000 jobs. Eleven international banks validated the project's viability, signaling confidence in private investment in the region. The success of this project could influence future investment strategies in Caribbean infrastructure.
