Energas Drives Cuba's Power Sector with Efficient Natural Gas Utilization
Energas operates three plants with a total capacity of 480 MW, providing 10% of Cuba's electricity generation. The company converts associated gas from oil extraction into the country's most economical electricity, supporting both energy needs and environmental goals.

Energas operates three plants in Cuba with a combined capacity of 480 MW, contributing 10% to the nation's electricity generation. Utilizing associated gas from oil wells, the company produces the most cost-effective electricity since 2003, reducing reliance on imported fuels.
The plants generate power using combined cycle technology, achieving efficiencies of up to 45%. Despite their capacity, current output is limited due to declining gas availability. Future investments aim to increase output by 70 MW.
Energas also supplies purified gas for cooking to over 250,000 families in Havana. Environmental benefits include reduced sulfur emissions, crucial for the tourism sector in Varadero. The joint venture is positioned to enhance energy sovereignty while balancing tourism and oil exploration.
