Eneva Initiates $1.16 Billion Gas-Power Hub Construction in Northeast Brazil
Eneva S.A. has commenced construction on a gas-powered hub at the Port of Pecém, with an investment of R$6 billion ($1.2 billion). The project includes the Jandaia thermoelectric plant and associated LNG infrastructure, set to be operational by 2030.

Eneva S.A. has officially launched the construction of a gas-fired power hub in Ceará, Brazil, with a total investment of approximately R$6 billion (around US$1.2 billion). The project will consist of the Jandaia natural-gas thermoelectric plant and an LNG regasification terminal at the Port of Pecém, with commercial operations expected to start in 2030.
This initiative emerged from a federal capacity reserve auction in March, where Eneva and Diamante Geração de Energia secured rights to build the plant with a capacity of 1,147 MW. The total licensed capacity for the complex is up to 2,340 MW.
The associated Pier Zero, designed for exclusive gas deliveries, represents an additional investment of R$430 million (about US$85 million). This development is anticipated to create over 2,000 jobs and enhance energy security in Brazil's Northeast region.
