Entergy to Break Ground on Two Natural Gas Power Plants in Texas
Entergy Texas will conduct a groundbreaking ceremony for two natural gas power stations in Port Arthur, adding over 1,200 MW capacity. These plants aim to support the growing energy needs of Southeast Texas, with operations expected by mid-2028.

Entergy Texas is set to break ground on two natural gas power stations, Legend and Lone Star, in Port Arthur, projected to enhance the region's generation capacity by over 1,200 megawatts. Texas Governor Greg Abbott will attend the ceremony at 11 a.m. on Thursday, marking the official start of construction for these facilities, which are approved to begin operations by mid-2028.
Additionally, the Orange County Advanced Power Station, nearing completion at 90% as of November 2025, will contribute approximately 1,215 MW, sufficient to power 230,000 homes and deliver over $1 billion in savings to consumers. This expansion is essential for Texas to meet rising energy demands and modernize its infrastructure against fluctuating energy needs.
