Epic Group Launches India's First Net-Zero Garment Manufacturing Plant
Epic Group inaugurated the Trimetro Manufacturing Campus in Odisha with a $100 million sustainability loan, aiming for net-zero carbon and water usage. The facility incorporates advanced cooling systems and water management strategies to address extreme climate conditions, setting a benchmark in the garment industry.

The Trimetro Manufacturing Campus in Khordha, Odisha, represents a significant advancement in garment manufacturing, supported by a $100 million loan from the International Finance Corporation. This facility integrates solar power, water recycling, and advanced insulation techniques, aiming to achieve net-zero carbon and nearly net-zero water use.
Industry assessments indicate that 69% of garment facilities lack climate action plans, highlighting the pressing need for adaptation strategies. Despite recognizing extreme heat as a risk, many brands fail to implement adequate heat stress management measures, which could jeopardize worker safety and production resilience. The challenge remains for textile producers in regions like Bangladesh to adopt similar sustainable practices under different constraints.
