Estonia Pursues €6.5 Billion EU Funding for Infrastructure and Technology Projects
Estonian ministries have submitted applications totaling €13.3 billion for upcoming EU funding, significantly exceeding available resources. Key proposals include investments in AI, infrastructure, and digital services aimed at enhancing national security and economic competitiveness.

Estonia plans to allocate €6.5 billion from the EU's long-term budget for 2028-2034, with ministries submitting funding applications worth €13.3 billion. The Ministry of Justice and Digital Affairs seeks €260.4 million for a digital transition aimed at making Estonia a leading AI-based state by 2035.
The Ministry of Climate requests €732.8 million for energy-efficient housing and €416.7 million for infrastructure improvements. The Ministry of Defense aims to strengthen maritime pollution response capabilities with €76.8 million and develop industrial capacity with €178.8 million. With discussions set for August and September, the government will prioritize 75% of the funding for planning.
