Eswatini Allocates E1.73 Billion for Minerals and Energy Development in 2026/27 Budget

Eswatini's government has allocated E1.73 billion to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy for the 2026/27 financial year. This investment aims to unlock the country's mineral wealth, enhance power generation, and expand electricity access.

The budget includes E6.13 million for detailed mineral surveys, three coal mining licenses, and two gold prospecting licenses. Additionally, the government plans to develop 75MW of solar PV plants and a 40MW biomass power plant in partnership with Ubombo Sugar Limited. These developments are expected to promote local job creation and diversify the economy.
