IRENA Launches Funding Call for Renewable Energy in Central America and the Caribbean
IRENA invites proposals for renewable energy projects in Central America and the Caribbean, focusing on financial and technical support. Proposals submitted before September 1 will be prioritized, with funding available through the Climate Investment Platform and the Energy Transition Finance Accelerator.

The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) has announced a funding call for renewable energy projects in Central America and the Caribbean, targeting public and private developers. Eligible projects include renewable generation, electric mobility, and green industrialization, with technologies such as solar, wind, and bioenergy.
Projects must meet specific criteria, including alignment with national climate priorities and support for the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The Climate Investment Platform requires projects to have preliminary studies, while the Energy Transition Finance Accelerator targets medium- to large-scale projects needing a minimum investment of $25 million. This initiative could enhance regional energy transitions and promote sustainable development.
