Eburu Forest Farmers Shift to Organic Practices and Biogas Amid Conservation Efforts

Farmers in the Eburu Forest region are increasingly turning to organic fruit farming and biogas systems as alternatives to unsustainable practices like logging and charcoal burning. The Rhino Ark Organisation has facilitated this shift by installing 43.3 km of electric fencing and promoting community-based organizations, such as the Eburu Fruit Farmers CBO.

The initiative, started four years ago, has led to significant improvements in conservation efforts. Farmers report enhanced crop yields and reduced reliance on forest resources, contributing to long-term environmental sustainability. However, the challenge remains to ensure continued compliance among all community members to prevent a return to previous harmful practices.
