Ethiopia and Russia Advance Nuclear Cooperation with Strategic Roadmap
Ethiopia has signed a Strategic Roadmap for Nuclear Energy Development with Russia, advancing its nuclear power capabilities. This agreement aims to enhance infrastructure, train personnel, and promote long-term economic growth.

On March 31, Ethiopia and Russia formalized their nuclear collaboration with the signing of a Strategic Roadmap for Nuclear Energy Development. This initiative aims to not only establish infrastructure but also train Ethiopian personnel for a self-sufficient nuclear sector.
The agreement follows a previous nuclear cooperation deal signed in September 2022, which has accelerated momentum in their partnership. Ethiopia's broader $30 billion infrastructure plan includes the development of a nuclear power plant, along with an oil refinery and natural gas facilities. The involvement of Russian firms has already led to a $1 billion agreement for an aluminum facility, highlighting the potential for economic advancement in Ethiopia.
