Ethiopia Initiates Urea Fertilizer Plant and Gode Oil Refinery Projects
Ethiopia has launched two significant industrial projects in the Somali region: a urea fertilizer plant in collaboration with the Dangote Group and the Gode Oil Refinery by Golden Concord Group Limited. These developments aim to enhance local production capacities and reduce reliance on imports.
Ethiopia's government has commenced two major industrial projects in the Somali region, including a urea fertilizer plant with a capacity of 3 million tons per year and an oil refinery with an annual production of 3.5 million tons. The fertilizer plant will utilize natural gas from the Calub gas fields, transported via a 108 km pipeline, while the refinery will process crude oil and condensate sourced from the Hilala oil field. These initiatives may significantly impact Ethiopia's industrial landscape and economic independence, promoting local production and reducing foreign reliance.
